Sewing Armoire???

I've been looking for something to hide my sewing clutter off and on for months, I finally found it last weekend.  It was 50% off the lowest price,  I paid $13.60 for it!!!  It is used from a resale store but in great condition and  a great find! I'm pretty sure that it's first life was as a computer desk but it's perfect as a sewing armoire for me.
After I organize it, maybe I can find a space for my Overlock.
Even my embroidery arm has a home!!

Fabric Hair Bows

I am easily distracted, instead of finishing the romper that  I was making for my daughter... I started making her hair bows.  I'm sure that I'm not the only one with this problem, right?

I was rummaging around in a store today and found this pattern.  I decided that I had to buy even though I haven't used the 40 to 50 other one's that I already at home. Maybe my problem is that I like the thought of sewing better than the actual act of it... I read other sewing blogs, some seem to whip out a project every few days.  Whatever "sewing bug" they have certainly hasn't stung me.

This is my next sewing project,  a cute little romper for my daughter.  No surprise that it's not for me!!! Maybe one day, I'll actually sew something for myself.

Why didn't I take a picture???

A few weeks ago my family and I went to Cincinnati for vacation, while there we went window shopping at the mall.  A dress caught my eye and I thought, I’d love to make it. Unfortunately, I didn’t take a picture of it. Since then I’ve been searching for a picture of the dress and a pattern that is similar to my memory of the dress. So far I’ve found neither… If only I knew how to make a pattern.  I’ll let you know if I’m ever successful in finding or making this dress.

Finishing what I started....

Is it just me or does anyone else start on projects and for one reason or another not finish it. I think that I get bored or lose interest so I stop working on it.   Here's one example, I started sewing this jumper for my daughter last summer but I never finished it.  I pulled it out last week, tried it on her to make sure that it still fits, now I can finished what I started. I got a chance to do my first buttonhole on my "not so new" machine!

Pajama keepers old and new

I am currently working on two Spiderman pajama keepers for a friend.
Imagine my surprise when I found this vintage pattern for pillow toys or
pajama bags. My mom made one for me when I was a kid, it may have
been a cat.

Here's yet another sewing project to add to the pile!!

Blast from my sewing past

Second birthday outfit, my "sewing" Mom helped me with attaching the number.

2nd Halloween outfit that I made for my daughter.

A month before Easter 2012,  I saw some embroider Easter baskets so I decided that my daughter needed one....this is the result.
I made this outfit in May 2012, I saw a outfit similar to it and decide that my daughter needed one.

I turned this extra large ladies top that I bought at a thrifty store into the Strawberry Shortcake striped leggings below.

Third Halloween costume made by me!

After 2 months on "special" order, I finally got my embroidery attachment.  I'm so excited to put it to work!!!
After four broken needles, several anxious hours and a lot of
tension thread adjustments, I finally got it working right!!!

Last week, I was asked as a favor to embroider a name onto a towel for a baby shower.  It caused me some concern because I had never embroidered on a towel before or done much embroidery in the year that I've had the machine.  I did an internet search and found instructions on how to proceed.  It went smoothly until I tried to put the UEL on the end of SAM,,, I didn't have enough room left in my hoop for it to fit,  The UEL would have overlapped the M.  Lucky, the family had planned to call him Sam anyway so I was asked just to put a giraffe next to the name,  I started putting it on then stopped the machine because I thought it was upside down. I pick out those threads and started over in a new direction.  I embroidered half the giraffe and realized that it was truly upside down. I picked that out and started over in the first direction....and the bobbin thread jammed!  I gave up because I was out of time so I pick out the thread and returned it to my friend.
The moral of this story is to practice before I start next time!!!  At least now I know how to embroider on a towel and which direction to do it in!!

I found these charms packs and jellyrolls at Big Lots!!!  They were half the price of the fabric stores.  My first project is to make a charm pack skirt for my daughter.

I found these great "old" patterns at the my favorite thrift store. Now, I have to decide which one I want to use first.  I haven't made clothing for myself since high school but I'm excited to start again!!!

I made this bag for my daughter for Easter after seeing a similar one in a accessory store.
